"Changes don't happen in comfort, and transformations don't happen without action," said Renata Daflon, Operations Director at Holográfica in Rio de Janeiro. She's creator of Mulheres de Impressão (MDI), an unprecedented initiative in Brazil that brings together leading businesswomen to collaborate, innovate and bring value to the Brazilian print market.
In November 2024, MDI welcomed more than 200 leaders from all states in Brazil for the Women of Printing Forum to connect and generate more opportunities for their companies. Together, they're creating a network of exchange, empowerment and growth through networking and new business opportunities. The companies represented by MDI's businesswomen account for nearly 4 billion reais (about $690 million) in annual revenue.
"We made an unforgettable event that reaffirms that we are on the right track," Renata said.
According to MDI, women currently account for fewer than 20% of leadership positions among the country's printing companies. Through the group, they discuss challenges and collaborate on issues such as sales prospecting, customer experience, governance/culture and female leadership.
The group's statement is clear and inspiring: "We want to rewrite the history of the printing industry, giving voice and visibility to businesses led by women, increasing the number of female leaders in the sector. Each of us has a fundamental role in this journey, and it is time to make a difference, promoting a more inclusive and sustainable environment."
"We are just getting started, but I know we can and will go much further," Renata said.
