Q&A with Mr. Sunil Jain of K K Jain Colour Lab

Based in Lucknow, India, K K Jain Colour Lab is a leader in the country’s high-end wedding photo book market — combining top-tier print technology with elegant design and premium binding. Dscoop spoke with Mr. Sunil Jain, proprietor of the company, about the evolving photo book business, the rise of direct-to-consumer opportunities and what excites him about the future of print.
Describe your company and your role in it.
K K Jain Colour Lab is a premier digital printing and photo book manufacturing company. We specialize in high-end wedding photo books, customized prints and luxury binding. By blending advanced printing technology with creative design, we help people preserve their most important memories in beautiful, tangible form. As a business leader, I oversee our operations, strategy, and customer relationships. I focus on driving innovation, maintaining quality, and building strong partnerships — while always looking ahead for new growth opportunities and market trends.
What would your best customers say about your company? What makes it special?
Our customers would say we’re passionate about quality. They appreciate our attention to detail, consistency and ability to deliver stunning, personalized photo books that elevate their own brand. Many of our clients are professional photographers and studios who trust us not only for beautiful prints, but also for our support, fast turnaround and creative flexibility. The richness of our colors, the durability of our finishes and our wide range of customization options make us stand out.
What kind of new business does your company seek today?
Right now, we’re excited about two major growth opportunities:
1. Direct-to-consumer (B2C) photo books.
We’ve traditionally worked with photographers and dealers, but now we’re expanding to serve individual customers who want to print their personal memories — travel albums, birthday books, mobile photo collections and more. We plan to promote these via our website and social media, offering affordable pricing to a growing market.
2. Resin craft and epoxy-based products.
We’re exploring new product lines using resin and epoxy, which allow for creative, artistic designs that can complement our existing print services. Alongside that, we’re investing in automation and AI-powered design tools to boost efficiency and personalization.
What’s the biggest challenge your team faces right now?
Staying ahead of rapid changes in technology while keeping our products affordable. The rising cost of quality paper and materials adds pressure, and expanding into new markets comes with logistical challenges. Upskilling our team is also a key focus — we want everyone confident and capable with the latest equipment and software. We're addressing these issues through automation, strategic supplier relationships and ongoing training.
How is your business different now than it was a few years ago?
We’ve evolved from a traditional photo lab into a full-scale digital printing solution provider. We now use technologies like HP Indigo to enhance quality and versatility, and we’ve expanded into custom and luxury photo books for high-end clients. We’ve also diversified into specialty printing for businesses. Overall, we’ve transformed our customer experience with faster turnaround times and more personalization options.
What do you love about the print industry?
I love that print is both artistic and technological. Turning a digital file into a beautiful, tactile piece — something a client can hold and treasure — is incredibly satisfying. The constant innovation in finishes, textures and personalization keeps things exciting. We’re always pushing creative boundaries, and that makes this industry deeply rewarding.
