Walking into Reproscan, also known as Pixelpro Management Pvt. Ltd., felt like stepping into a blend of history, creativity and innovation — all under one Mumbai rooftop. This 40-year-old business, founded by Pankaj Mehta, began as a prepress house and evolved into one of India’s first adopters of digital printing with HP Indigo back in 2006. That pioneering spirit still runs strong today.
Reproscan is surrounded by the energy of its business district and nearby art colleges and galleries. It’s no coincidence — their roots in prepress are deeply tied to India’s vibrant art scene. With his JJ School of Arts degree and a keen eye for detail, Pankaj built a reputation for crafting flawless scans and print-ready files for some of the country’s most renowned artists. Seeing original art catalogues, exquisite photo books and even rare coffee table tributes to icons like Amitabh Bachchan and Dhirubhai Ambani was nothing short of inspiring.
Their 6,000-square-foot facility in the heart of Mumbai is a testament to what’s possible when you pair craftsmanship with technology. Every product — whether a label, book or archival piece — is personal, polished and proudly delivered. The space itself is filled with beautiful paintings and original artworks, reflecting the creative DNA of the company.
But what struck me most was the atmosphere of mentorship and curiosity. Students from JJ School of Arts regularly drop in to learn from Pankaj, who’s passionate about teaching the next generation how to prepare print-ready files. The buzz of activity and learning is constant.
Now, Pankaj’s son Tanuj, a recent Master’s graduate in printing from Arizona State University, is helping lead the company forward alongside cousin Ketan Mehta. Tanuj recently attended his first Dscoop event in Mumbai and is eager to grow through community connections and collaboration.
The future of this company is in good hands!
