Using Trends as Selling Opportunities
SUMMARY
In this Marketing Mondays session we welcomed Deborah Corn of Print Media Center and Girls Who Print for “Using Trends as Selling Opportunities.” Deborah showed printers how to earn attention by connecting print to what people are already talking about. Her examples included National Donut Day promotions, Tesco’s viral soccer-ball lettuce, pizza-box “pizza bibs,” and Halloween packaging that becomes a mask. She also introduced “printmaxing,” which means selling outcomes rather than output, and pointed to opportunities in little free libraries, food trucks, local staycations, EPR regulations, and print as a trusted channel amid AI scams. Her challenge to attendees: identify a trend, connect it to print, match it to a customer, and start a conversation.
