Cellcoat may be one of Dscoop's newest partners, but the Sheffield, UK-based company brings years of experience helping printers expand their capabilities through thermal lamination. Cellcoat designs and manufactures modular equipment for labels, flexible packaging, and commercial print, including applications involving HP Indigo technology.
In this conversation, Cellcoat's Jonathan Smith explains that the company's evolution began with a customer request in 2015 involving an HP Indigo press and a need to thermally laminate labels. That relationship grew into a major business opportunity, with the customer now producing 90 million cups per festival season. Today, the company continues to develop solutions for evolving markets, particularly flexible packaging and label finishing.
At Edge Slovenia, Jonathan sat down with longtime Dscooper Richard Askam to discuss the company's work and its decision to join the community just a month earlier. And Cellcoat was already seeing the benefits. A conversation with a customer that very morning had prompted Jonathan to put one of his engineers to work on a new concept. The idea? Adding embellishment capabilities to thermal lamination for flexible packaging, potentially creating a new standard product for Cellcoat's equipment range.
