AI is reshaping how production teams work every day. That message came through clearly in the Dscoop.com education session “Designed for the Future of Work: AI, Productivity and HP Nio for Industrial Print,” hosted by Bob Raus and Laura Roman of HP Industrial Print.

More than 100 Dscoopers joined to see HP’s newest innovation, HP Nio, in action and hear early feedback from users Jonathan Beck of SmartPress, Christopher Burnley of Corefact and Mel Cox of Resource Label Group.

Built into HP PrintOS, HP Nio is a conversational AI companion designed to transform raw data into meaningful insight. It constantly monitors device telemetry, job data and workflows, then translates that complexity into clear, useful recommendations. From detecting issues before they cause downtime to guiding operators through troubleshooting steps, HP Nio’s purpose is simple: help print businesses achieve more uptime, efficiency and confidence.

As Bob explained during the session, the AI tool acts like a trusted co-pilot — combining AI-powered reasoning with the deep production data already flowing through PrintOS. Instead of forcing operators to dig through dashboards or manuals, HP Nio uses natural language to deliver instant answers, surface efficiency metrics and even retrieve the latest service documentation in seconds.

The platform’s architecture is built on specialized “agents,” each trained to handle a specific domain such as supplies, color, workflow or maintenance. These agents work together to provide a holistic, adaptive view of a site’s operations. That means printers get both broad insights and detailed guidance — from color accuracy trends to recommendations for optimizing press utilization across shifts and locations.

Guest panelists shared firsthand experiences using HP Nio during its pilot phase. SmartPress reported faster troubleshooting and fewer production delays, while Corefact emphasized how quickly the AI surfaced operational bottlenecks. At Resource Label Group, HP Nio helped operators better understand efficiency metrics and respond proactively to maintenance alerts. Across the board, participants highlighted a noticeable boost in productivity and decision-making speed.

The discussion closed with an optimistic look ahead. As new AI agents and data integrations roll out, HP Nio will continue evolving, expanding from a digital assistant into a full ecosystem of interconnected intelligence across HP’s industrial print platforms.
