As a former PSP owner with deep experience in HP Indigo technology and a love for direct marketing, Mike successfully transitioned from running Proven Direct, a direct mail and marketing company, to launching Studio Source Yearbooks, a full-service yearbook publishing company where he serves as President. Today, Studio Source Yearbooks handles an incredible 60 million pages every yearbook season, and that number is growing by about 10 million pages per year, he said. Yearbooks may seem like a nostalgic product, but they’re a growing business opportunity. In this conversation, Mike highlights how advancements in digital printing and bookbinding have transformed yearbook production, allowing for greater personalization and flexibility in run lengths. Unlike traditional yearbook providers, Studio Source offers a customer-centric, modern approach that aligns with today’s on-demand expectations. His company's yearbook management e-commerce platform is used by independent school photographers and yearbook representatives. Mike also discusses how collaborating with schools, integrating with technology partners and meeting fellow Dscoopers has helped Studio Source thrive, and why printers interested in new revenue streams should consider niche markets. Lessons for Business Owners Mike also shares actionable strategies for commercial printers looking to grow, whether through expanding their offerings, integrating more personalization or creating long-term client relationships. His journey underscores the importance of adapting to market trends, leveraging digital solutions and continuously finding ways to add value to customers.
