The Shift in Recycling Costs - Time to Prepare

Laura Pickard is Director of Government Relations at Sylvamo, with a focus on North America. Prior to joining Sylvamo in 2023, Pickard worked for the national trade association representing the paper industry in Washington, D.C., the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA). Over the course of eleven years, she oversaw international economic and trade policy strategy, directed federal advocacy efforts on recycling, paper product fees and bans, chemicals, and international trade, and managed AF&PA’s Political Action Committee and grassroots program. Early in her career, she worked on Capitol Hill for Representatives Rubén Hinojosa (TX-15) and Phil Hare (IL-17). She holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard University and a master’s degree from George Washington University. She lives in Poolesville, Maryland with her husband and two children.
