Paragraph summary:

In our upcoming webinar on leadership, we'll take a practical look at what makes a great leader, drawing from the insights of experts Kouzes and Posner. We'll dive into the importance of Emotional Intelligence (EQ), focusing on how self-awareness is key to understanding and improving how we lead. We'll also compare different leadership styles to see which ones work best in various situations and team environments. Lastly, we'll learn valuable lessons from the Leadership Circle model, which helps us understand how our leadership skills and our underlying motivations work together. This session is designed to give a clear, down-to-earth view of effective leadership in today’s world.

Topics descriptions:

1. What Does Great Leadership Look Like: we will introduce James Kouzes and Barry Posner's "The Leadership Challenge" principles, which define great leadership through five practices: model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and encourage the heart.

2. The Importance of EQ and Self-Awareness: we explain the concept of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and its relevance to leadership. The we delve into the five components of EQ identified by Daniel Goleman: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. Discuss how self-awareness serves as the foundation for these components and is critical in understanding one’s own emotions, strengths, weaknesses, and values, and how they affect others.

3. Leadership Styles: Cover the various leadership styles such as transactional, transformational, servant, and autocratic leadership, among others. Discuss the contexts in which each style may be most effective and how leaders can adopt different styles based on situational factors.

4. Mastering Leadership: we provide key take-aways from the Leadership Circle framework, which integrates leadership competencies and underlying assumptions that drive behaviour. We discuss how this model allows for a holistic view of leadership effectiveness by assessing both the creative competencies that contribute to a leader's effectiveness and the reactive tendencies that limit effectiveness.
